Allan Pyatt Study Centre

The study centre is often used for evening tutorials and peer mentoring groups; it is also available for private study at any time of the day. The study centre may also be used for other functions including our CH social events, alumni social gatherings and occasional conference events.

The Study Centre is named after Allan Pyatt, Bishop of Christchurch   1966-1983. He was Warden of College House during this period.

Arthur Sims Library

The library is a very traditional, quiet study space located at the east end of the quad.

Sir Arthur Sims (1877-1969) was a benefactor to the University of Canterbury’s Combined Halls of  Residence Appeal. To acknowledge Sir Arthur Sim’s generosity, the library is named in his honour.

Formal Lounge

The formal lounge, next to the main foyer is often the place where we serve after dinner coffee and tea. Large, comfortable chairs set beside the fire place provide a wonderful spot to read and study in the winter terms.

Computer Room

The computer room is located on the ground floor of Hardie/Beadel houses. It is available 24 hours a day; access is by combination lock. It has a number of screens and printers that are connected to UC’s system; these computers run all UC’s software.
