We’re pleased to announce the appointment of our new chairman, Anna Wilkes, which took effect from 1 January 2016.

Anna Wilkes succeeds Bill Studholme who has retired after 28 years’ service to College House’s board. Anna says, "The board and I would like to acknowledge the magnificent contribution Bill has made to College House over those years, especially the last four years as chairman. Bill has shown outstanding leadership as we negotiated with our insurers after the 2011 earthquakes. That we have a rebuilt dining hall and a new house for 15 students is a testament to his diligence. We are all very grateful for his very long service to College House."

New chairman Anna Wilkes (1994 and tutor 1997-98) joined the board in 2005. She has been a member of the student liaison committee and, earlier this year, took on the chairmanship of the building committee.  Anna is a resource management planner working for global ground engineering and environmental services consultancy, Golder Associates. She has an MSc (Hons) and is currently studying part-time for a Masters in resource and environmental planning from Massey University. Anna’s work at Golder Associates is a mix of environmental, planning and sustainable development projects. She is involved with the management of an artificial lake and wastewater treatment plant discharges as well as resource consenting for large scale stormwater discharges. She has recently completed Golder’s global Sustainable Development report.

Also retiring from the board is Christchurch advertising agency Harvey Cameron Group founder/director Iain Harvey. Anna says that Iain’s expertise will be much missed. "Iain has been a stalwart in his 13 years on the board. Over this time we’ve redeveloped all our marketing collateral and the website, and Iain has been a major contributor to the new 'look and feel' of College House that helps ensure we attract the very best students who want to study at UC."

Anna says the board’s next project is to launch a campaign to help raise funds for the strengthening of the much-loved chapel and, longer-term, to ensure that CH retains its position as the pre-eminent hall of residence at the University of Canterbury.

The College House board now comprises:

Chairman/Sub-Warden: Anna Wilkes

Board Fellows: Natalie Baird, Jono Brent, Hugh Lindo, Suzanne Peddie, John Rolleston, David Strack, Phillip Williams and Ashley Wilson
