Congratulations to alumnus Nick Davidson QC (1967) who was sworn in as a High Court Judge in Christchurch on Friday, 26 June 2015. He will be sitting in Christchurch.

Nick DavidsonNick Davidson is now a High Court judgeAfter graduating from UC with an LLB (Hons), he worked in two Christchurch law firms – Duncan Cotterill and Young Hunter. After becoming a barrister in 1988, he was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 1996.

Leading teams across a wide range of civil and prosecution litigation, he has represented the Serious Fraud Office in the Commission of Inquiry into various tax-related matters (the Wine Box Enquiry), and he was also Counsel before the Royal Commission of Inquiry for the families of the 29 men who died in the Pike River Mine Disaster in 2010.

He was Deputy Chair of the New Zealand Sports Disputes Tribunal from 2003-2011 and currently is the National Commissioner for New Zealand Cricket. He is a member of the disciplinary structures with SANZAR and the IRB, and the Code of Conduct Commission for the Dubai-based International Cricket Council.
