Progress continues on the Main Block rebuild with the dining hall exterior walls being put in place early this week.

The pre-cast concrete slabs arrived from Ashburton on three massive trucks. The plan was to have the crane already set up so the slabs could be lifted into place during the day.

But Monday's terrible weather made these plans fly out the window. High winds and rain meant it was too dangerous to transport and set up the crane early in the day. With a lift in the weather on Tuesday, however, the crane was soon sorted out. By 3pm, the first slabs were being placed and work went on until 11pm that evening.

It has been very exciting for us all to see this progress above ground, rather than looking at foundations.

It's now starting to look like a building . . .
