Charlie Wilkinson (CH5035, 2010-2011) spent seven weeks in Antarctica this summer as a Youth Ambassador for the Sir Peter Blake Trust.

One of two students chosen as interns for the trip, Charlie put his engineering studies to use working on computer programming collecting data for Scott Base. The reports generated from this data are being used to test how the Scott Base buildings perform during the winter months, and is an on-going project. Charlie says the biggest challenge of living in Antarctica was the constant sunlight 24 hours a day, as well as the dryness of living in a perpetually snowy environment. To read more about Charlie's adventures, see the 2013 CH newsletter due out in August.
