The 2005 Car Rally, held on Saturday, saw sixteen teams unleashed on Christchurch city and its surrounds.

Teams chose names to reflect their costumes (the Smurfs leaving a trail of blue paint behind them) and completed a task sheet and questionnaire as they traversed the route set. Tasks included ascertaining the price of a curry at Argie Bargie, being photographed impersonating Tui billboards and in an expensive car, and having an arty photograph taken in the Mona Vale fernery. After re-enacting the penguins from the movie 'Madagascar' and an extended visit to the Palms Mall, all teams returned to College House weary but well-versed in the Garden City.
